Dua for Protection from Shaytan

Allah — there is no god but Him, the Ever-Living, the Sustainer of all existence. Neither drowsiness overtakes Him nor sleep...

The Ayat al-Kursi and the closing verses of Surah al-Baqarah are among the greatest protections from Shaytan when recited before sleep.

Sahih al-Bukhari, Al-Baqarah 2:255; Bukhari No. 2311 — Abu Hurayrah (RA)

Dua Against the Evil Eye

U'idhukuma bikalimatillahit-tammati min kulli shaytanin wa hammah, wa min kulli 'aynin lammah

I seek refuge for you both in the perfect words of Allah, from every devil and every poisonous creature, and from every evil eye.

The Prophet ﷺ used to seek refuge for al-Hasan and al-Husayn (RA) with these words, stating that Ibrahim (AS) used them for Isma'il and Ishaq.

Sahih al-Bukhari, No. 3371 — Ibn 'Abbas (RA)

Protection from Magic and Witchcraft

Qul a'udhu bi Rabbil-Falaq, min sharri ma khalaq, wa min sharri ghasiqin idha waqab, wa min sharrin-naffathati fil-'uqad, wa min sharri hasidin idha hasad

Say: I seek refuge in the Lord of the daybreak, from the evil of what He created, from the evil of darkness when it settles, from the evil of the blowers in knots (those who practise magic), and from the evil of an envier when he envies.

Surah al-Falaq and Surah an-Nas — collectively known as al-Mu'awwidhatayn — are the specific Qur'anic protection against magic, envy, and hidden harm; recited by the Prophet ﷺ every night before sleeping.

Qur'an, Surah Al-Falaq 113:1-5 — Recited nightly by the Prophet ﷺ (Bukhari No. 5017, 'Aishah RA)

Refuge from the Punishment of the Grave

Allahumma inni a'udhu bika min 'adhabi jahannam, wa min 'adhabil-qabr, wa min fitnatil-mahya wal-mamat

O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the punishment of Hell, from the punishment of the grave, and from the trials of life and death.

Part of the closing supplication of the Tashahhud, taught by the Prophet ﷺ to be said in every prayer before the final salam.

Sahih Muslim, No. 588 — Abu Hurayrah (RA)

Refuge from the Trial of the Dajjal

Wa min sharri fitnatil-Masihid-Dajjal

And from the evil of the trial of the False Messiah, the Dajjal.

Continuing the same closing supplication of the Tashahhud, seeking refuge from the trial of the false messiah.

Sahih Muslim, No. 588 — Abu Hurayrah (RA)
